Summary of Events

  • Sudan is gearing up for Round 18 of nationwide mass demonstrations rejecting military rule. Among the issues expected to be highlighted tomorrow: illegal arrests; exploitation of natural resources (in Blue Nile State).

  • The attack on the Northern Barricade continues: #SudanCoup authorities arrested 12 citizens guarding the Hafeer Mishu barricade today, dismantling it to allow trucks carrying sesame and camels to pass. In response, a new barricade was erected, preventing trucks from passing. Residents also made their way to Dongola, where the 12 detainees were being held, and protested demanding their release.

  • #SudanCoup authorities also continue their campaign of mass arrests, this time with the arrest of former Sovereignty Council member Mohamed Elfaki Suleiman, as well as 2 prominent musicians - Mazin Hamed and Mohamed Hamed.

  • After a series of consultations, resistance committee bodies from East, West, South and Central Darfur, as well as Jezira State, North Kordofan State and Red Sea State have developed upon the Medani Resistance Committees’ proposed political charter, and will be presenting it to the public for further consultation.
