Who runs this page?
This page was initially created after the military forces staged a coup on the 25th of October, 2021, overthrowing the Sovereignty Council in power, cutting off phone and internet access across the country, and violently cracking down on all civilian protests. The page is run by a small group of Sudanese volunteers.

#KeepEyesOnSudan: a callout to the world to bear witness to the injustice Sudanese are facing, to urge their governments to do take a stand, to add their voices to ours, to *be* a much-needed voice for Sudanese people as military belligerents do their best to thwart the will of the Sudanese people.

What happened in the Sudanese Revolution 2019?
Sudan’s 2018/2019 revolution was the culmination of many months - years, really - of resistance against Omar El-Bashir, the President who ruled the nation for almost 30 years. It was one of the largest social movements in recent history.
Protests began in regional towns in December of 2018. By starting in the regions, popular support built, and within weeks, regular protests were taking place across the country.
In late August 2019, the Sovereign Council - part military, part civilian - is formed, and tasked with overseeing the path to civilian rule. Abdallah Hamdok is named Prime Minister, and the first phase of the revolution is over. -
How big is the humanitarian crisis?
The situation is dire. According to the UN, about 10.7 million people are now displaced by conflicts in Sudan, with 9 million inside the country, making Sudan the largest internal displacement crisis globally.
Millions are at risk of famine, and in parts of Darfur, one child dies every two hours. -
What does #الردة_مستحيلة mean?
#الردة_مستحيلة : translated, it means "there is no going back" - a mantra chanted by Sudanese on the ground indicating that they will not accept 'going back' to military rule ever again.
After 5 decades of military governments, enough is enough. -
What was the Sovereignty Council?
The Sovereignty Council of Sudan (Arabic: مجلس السيادة السوداني) was the group of people put together after the 2018/2019 revolution to run the country for a 39-month transitional period, scheduled to end in November 2022. Made up of five military and six civilians, it was supposed to be the ‘head of state’ until elections could be held, but the body was dissolved during the coup.

Who is Burhan?
Abdel Fattah al-Burhan is a military man, and was the chair of the Sovereignty Council for the first 21 months of the transition. He is also the guy who headed the military coup on Oct 25th 2021.

#لاتفاوض_لاشراكة_لاشرعية : translated, it means “no negotiation, no partnership, no legitimacy” - a rejection of the intl community’s calls for compromise and going back to pre-coup power sharing.
The Sudanese people want to be rid of military rule once and for all.
