Day 66 of the Military Coup
Summary of Events
The country is gearing up for #Dec30March, Sudan's 11th wave of nationwide mass demonstrations against military rule since Burhan took power on October 25. In anticipation, #SudanCoup forces have closed off bridges/major thoroughfares in Khartoum, and carried out an arrest campaign this evening targeting activists and resistance committee members. There are also unconfirmed reports that much like on December 25, telecom services will be shut down.
The security committee of N. Darfur State has imposed a 6pm-5am curfew on Elfashir following looting of UNAMID and WFP facilities by armed militia.1,900 metric tons of food were stolen from WFP - "enough to feed 730,000 ppl for a month." But the curfew seems to have little effect, with reports this evening that armed militia looted the state Ministry of Education. In light of these events, Elfashir RCs have canceled the city's participation in tomorrow's demonstrations as a safety measure. Instead, a public forum is planned.
The Darfur Bar Association "has received 30 complaints of sexual harassment, including 16 complaints of rape" reportedly committed by #SudanCoup forces during the December 25 protests in Khartoum, according to Radio Dabanga. 3 of the 16 rape allegations were reportedly made by men. This is added to the long list of violations that have been committed by #SudanCoup forces against citizens in the last two months, including home raids, abduction of activists and the unlawful arrest and detention of minors.
