Day 116 of the Military Coup

Summary of Events

  • Protests rejecting #SudanCoup took place in several areas of the Sudanese capital, as well as Medani and Aljabaliya (Jezira State), Ibri and Mishu (Northern State), and Kutum in North Darfur.

  • Protests across Khartoum and Ibri were attacked by #SudanCoup forces; according to Sudan Doctors Committee, at least 28 people were injured by authorities' crackdown in the capital, including 2 gunshot injuries.

  • In stranger news: at a ceremony to sign an agreement between the Natl Human Rights Commission and the Human Rights & Protection of Children unit of the RSF, Commander of RSF Himedti claimed that "no protesters are being held in prison." Immediately after that, he vowed the immediate release of all detained protesters.

  • Meanwhile, political detainees in Soba Prison have announced a continuation of their hunger strike, which was briefly suspended today. Note: Soba Prison is not the only facility where #SudanCoup authorities have activists, protesters, journalists and politicians illegally imprisoned.

  • Khartoum Resistance Committees have announced they will be releasing their proposed political charter on Sunday, February 20.
