Day 120 of the Military Coup
Summary of Events
At least 14 cities came out in protest today on #Feb21March, the 20th round of nationwide mass demonstrations since the military staged a coup on October 25, 2021.
According to the Sudan Doctors Committee, 159 people were injured by #SudanCoup forces in today's demonstrations in Khartoum, who used teargas, live ammunition and their vehicles to suppress protesters.
Port Sudan Resistance Committees reported at least 8 injured, all from direct shots with teargas canisters. In addition, an unknown number of protesters were arrested by authorities in Port Sudan. #SudanCoup forces also raided an elementary school in the city, terrorizing students and teargassing them.
According to the Emergency Lawyers Organization, #SudanCoup authorities have released around 40 detainees who were held at Soba Prison, transporting them first to several police stations around the capital before allowing for bail to be posted for their release.
Two detainees were also released from Omdurman Women's Prison: Ministry of Health employee Eman Mirghani, abducted by authorities ands imprisoned since January 25, as well as mechanical engineering student Amna Awad, unlawfully held since February 7.
At the Moseh women's dormitory of Nyala University, students have begun an open sit-in, demanding increased safety and security after repeated armed militia attacks have terrorized the residents.
