Despite Prime Minister Hamdok's assurances that freedom of speech and the right to protest are protected by this new transitional government, protesters in Khartoum were met with heavy use of teargas and stun grenades. Protesters also reported more potent teargas than previously used.
As in previous demonstrations, coup forces fired teargas canisters directly at protesters' bodies, injuring several (exact numbers to be released by Central Doctors Committee). One member of AlDeim resistance committees sustained a severe face injury from this and had to undergo emergency surgery. Activists also reported use of a gas that causes severe skin irritation.
Arrests continued in Khartoum today as #SudanCoup forces attacked hospitals and (literally) dragged injured protesters out of the premises.
In Gedarif, resistance committees reported several arrests, including Wajdi Khalifa, member of the local anti-corruption committee, who was just recently released after being detained since October 25, only to be rearrested.
In Kassala, protesters held a one-day sit-in.
The Central Doctors Committee announced the death of another protester - 26 year old Nour Allah Hamad died today as a result of injuries he sustained during #Oct25March. Nour Allah was severely beaten by coup forces and suffered a brain hemorrhage as a result. The total deaths since the beginning of this coup are now at 43.
