Day 106 of the Military Coup
Summary of Events
At least 19 cities came out in protest on this 17th round of nationwide mass demonstrations against #SudanCoup.
As has become custom, peaceful protesters across the tri-city capital were attacked by #SudanCoup forces using teargas, stun grenades, as well as rubber bullets and live ammunition. In central Khartoum, skunk vehicles were deployed against protesters.
#SudanCoup forces also arrested a BBC Arabic team working to cover today's demonstrations, detaining them for several hours before granting their release.
In Atbara, protesters blocked main road linking the city to Khartoum, and were teargassed by #SudanCoup forces.
Following the decision made by Northern State security committee yesterday, #SudanCoup forces dismantled the Mishu-Hafeer barricade along the Sudan-Egypt highway. In response, residents in nearby areas erected a number of other barricades, bolstering the lockdown on the Sudan-Egypt highway and ensuring it remains closed until protesters' demands are met.
On a final note, Burhan has outlined his conditions for a power sharing agreement (that no one wants) to the IGAD delegation:
"national reconciliation and consensus"
elections
allowing banned parties into government.
