Summary of Events
A massive student protest was held in Nyala, South Darfur today, denouncing #SudanCoup.
Residents of Elfashir, N. Darfur protested demanding justice today after 5 people were killed near Zamzam IDP Camp.
After 5 days of open sit-in, residents of the Manwashi area of S. Darfur have agreed to clear the Nyala-Elfashir highway, which they barricaded in protest after armed militia attacks killed 4 ppl on December 1. Several people were arrested in connection to the crime.
In ElObeid, North Kordofan, 5 minors (the youngest just 11 yrs old) are on emergency trial for 'disturbing the peace' and 'disorderly conduct' after being arrested at a peaceful protest October 25. If convicted, they could face up to 3 months in prison, and/or be fined.
In Gedarif, a silent protest was held against the illegal arrest of peaceful protesters, after at least 12 were arrested at a public forum yesterday; a reminder that both Burhan and Hamdok have repeatedly asserted that #SudanCoup government guarantees the right to peaceful protest.
Burhan's office has filed a formal complaint under the cybercrimes law against Muna Zaki, head of AFP office in Khartoum. Burhan is accusing AFP of not adhering to facts, and divulging national security information and movements of the armed forces.
The office of the PM announced a meeting today between the PM and various ministers and undersecretaries; a reminder that Hamdok has yet to formally announce a cabinet.
