Summary of Events
West Darfur Doctors Committee reports the death toll in Kereinik is now at 88, with 84 injured.
Attacks continue on Jebel Moon, with the burning of at least 8 villages yesterday.
Militia attacks on Tanjaki, West Darfur yesterday have claimed the lives of Mayor Gamar Eldin and his 7 siblings, who were laid to rest today. The security situation in the Darfur region has been rapidly deteriorating since #SudanCoup. According to Radio Dabanga, Acting Governor of West Darfur "acknowledged security problems in North and West Darfur. He said that the attackers are 'taking advantage of the deteriorating security situation in Khartoum'".
Darfur is not the only region of Sudan experiencing violence. Activists report over 1000 people have been displaced in AlNuhud locality in West Kordofan the result of tribal conflict. The preliminary death toll at 30; and a reported large number of wounded and missing.
Today, demonstrations against #SudanCoup led by people with disabilities took place in several cities, including Atbara, Sinnar, Medani and the tribal-city capital, Khartoum. In Port Sudan, lawyers protested to denounce the violence faced by residents of Jebel Moon, West Darfur.
The US House of Representatives’ Foreign Affairs Committee passed the Sudan Democracy Act by unanimous vote. The sanctions bill is targeted at "entities responsible for, complicit in, or engaged in actions that undermine transition to democracy/threaten stability of Sudan".
