Day 55 of the Military Coup

Summary of Events

  • Preparations are complete for tomorrow's #Dec19march - Sudan's 9th round of nationwide protests since the military took power by force in a coup.

  • On the eve of the 3rd anniversary of the December Revolution, several protests groups from Jezira and North Kordofan States have arrived in the capital to participate in the city's demonstrations.

  • In anticipation of the closure of bridges leading to Khartoum by #SudanCoup forces, many residents from Omdurman crossed over into Khartoum this evening. The Boaters Union has also reportedly made over 60 boats available for protesters to use in case all bridges are closed.

  • Other cities across the country are also preparing to hold their own demonstrations in the 'millions march' tradition, including Port Sudan, Gedarif & Atbara, to name a few.

  • But while the city gears up to protest, violence continues against citizens in Darfur. It was reported that "groups of militant herders are raiding villages" south of Elfashir whose residents have fled, destroying water wells and stealing what's left in them. 2 boys reportedly sustained GSWs near Tabit and Altawila yesterday.

  • In West Darfur, 3 people were wounded when armed gunmen on motorcycles attempted to stop the vehicle on its way to Gineina, shooting at them. Sudan Central Doctors Committee reports that the total death toll in the region has reached 248 people.
