Day 86 of the Military Coup

Summary of Events

  • In the aftermath of Monday’s events, an escalation of resistance activities, including the barricading of roads/cities and Day 1 of a two-day nationwide civil disobedience.

  • High school students in Medani and AlDuweim took to the streets to denounce the continued violence of #SudanCoup authorities. In Bahri (Khartoum), high school students walked out of school and refused to take exams, joining many in the city in civil disobedience.

  • In honor of the late Siraj Eldin Ahmed, a sophomore at Blue Nile University in AlRoseires killed by #SudanCoup forces in Khartoum yesterday, students of the Faculty of Engineering came out in protest. The university administration has also suspended classes for 3 days.

  • A number of other universities, including Medani Alahlia University and Elfashir University, have also announced their participation in #SudanCivilDisobedience the next two days.

  • On the international front, the "Friends of Sudan" group met in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia to discuss #SudanCoup developments and support of the "political process". The group is comprised of representatives of Canada and USA, several European countries, the EU, UK and UN. No Sudanese reps were present.
