Summary of Events
Sudan has lost another young, promising life: 18 year old Ahmed Abdelmoniem died today due to a gun shot wound to the head that he sustained during the December 30 demonstrations in Khartoum. He was shot by #SudanCoup forces.
Calls were made by Burri resistance committees for protests in his honor to take place tomorrow, outside of the pre-set schedule of demonstrations (the next round set for January 30). So far, resistance committees across Khartoum, Kosti and AlDuweim have answered the call.
Arbitrary arrests continue across the nation, with the latest wave happening in AlDuweim, White Nile State. This comes one day after the police teargassed schools and randomly attacked high school students on their way home, assaulting female students and arresting male students.
The US government has nominated John Godfrey as ambassador to Sudan. Godfrey is the current acting counter-terrorism envoy at the State Department.
