Day 96 of the Military Coup
Summary of Events
The body of Suleiman Ahmed Omer, former executive director of AlGineina Locality in West Darfur, was found today at his farm east of Jebel Moon. Omer was abducted by armed militia on January 20.
The intimidation and insecurity caused by armed groups and #SudanCoup forces continues nationwide, as attacks on citizens in South Kordofan go unchecked - including the looting of the Zalat-Magdoud gold market west of Abu Jibeiha by RSF agents on January 10.
According to a report by the Sudanese Human Rights and Development Organization (HUDO), such attacks have been prevalent since as early as November 2021, without any intervention or investigation by authorities.
The sit-in at Hajjar Dormitory in Omdurman enters its third day, as residents demand increased security and reforms to dorm management after the sexual assault and robbery of a resident on Tuesday. As of yet, no one from administration has addressed protesting residents.
Reminder: 17 year old Mohamed Adam and at least 3 others are still unlawfully detained by #SudanCoup authorities, falsely accused of the murder of a police brigadier. Adam is reportedly held incommunicado and, according to his family, experienced physical abuse at the hands of authorities.
Mohamed Adam is also not receiving medical care, despite having 2 gunshot wounds in his leg (he was shot by #SudanCoup forces during a previous demonstration, and was abducted from in front of the hospital where he was being treated on January 15).
Reminder: women's rights activist Amira Osman is also still under unlawful detention by #SudanCoup forces, abducted from her home on January 23. UK organization REDRESS has demanded UN intervention in her case.
These are just 2 names out of many -activists, resistance committee members and regular citizens being illegally arrested and imprisoned by #SudanCoup forces without due process or end to their imprisonment in sight.
